The four communities of the Northern Secwepemc te Qelmucw (NStQ) including Tsq'escen', Xats'ull/Cmetem', T'exelc and Xgat'tem/Stswecem'c' have chosen to negotiate together for a Treaty settlement. As part of the NStQ, the Canim Lake Indian Band Treaty Office Is: Helping our people build strong, healthy, successful individuals and communities through an honorable agreement with the people of the Cariboo-Chilcotin Region, British Columbia and Canada.

The Community Coordinators in each community:

1.

 

Work with community members to ensure their interests are represented in negotiations (and that they receive full information on all topics).

2.

Complete technical work for negotiations (with assistance from Treaty Advisor and/or contracted experts as required).

3.

Provide support to NStQ Negotiator and assist with/lead topic negotiations at table.

4.

Develop and administer community treaty budgets, supervise Treaty Assistant and Regional Coordinators, Researchers, etc.

5.

Work with band staff, Chief and Council and keep them informed of negotiations and seek their input.

6.

Assist with community transition to post-treaty, including by-laws, taxation, Constitutions, etc.
