The Eliza Archie Memorial School is named in honour of Eliza Archie; a leader, and respected elder of the Canim Lake community. Eliza Archie devoted a lifetime of dedication and energy towards the advancement of her people and community. Her deeply rooted identity, epitomizes Secwepemc culture, traditions, and beliefs that, to this day, survives to confront, challenge and prevail over obstacles to a better future for the Secwepemc people of the Canim Lake community.

The Canim Lake First Nations community honors Eliza Archie through the establishment of the Eliza Archie Memorial School in 1986, as part of an ongoing initiative to exercise self-determination and control over the social development and education of Canim Lake children. To this day, the Eliza Archie Memorial School continues to serve the Canim Lake and surrounding communities, by providing quality education and support services that meet and exceed today's educational standards, within the context of promoting and preserving Secwepemc identity.
